High Fibre Diet: Good or Bad?

In last two days got drenched in rain twice!!
So feeling little malaise and having symptoms of rhinitis, sore throat and cough.

 But anyway I wanted to convey a very important fact to all the people who are on high fiber diet. OK. Its agreeable that high fiber diets like oats, museli and corn flakes can reduce the risk of hypercholesterolaemia and heart diseases. It can be useful to those who want to loose weight as it fills the stomach to produce satiety. It can add bulk to the food and help in defecation hence helpful for patients suffering from constipation. Even WHO recommends eating 30g oats in the morning.

But what about its effects in  normal human beings. No side effects at all? What precautions need to be given for normal users? None talk about it. No brands mention any precautions on their packaging. But here are the things normal users should know.

First of all if you are on high fiber diet and experiencing the flatulence problem(gas problem), then stop eating those oats or the corn flakes or whatever. Because they are the culprits. They react with the chemicals produced by the intestinal bacteria and produce hell lot of gas as by-product. And one more thing people don tell is you have to drink a lot of water when eating high fiber contents. Otherwise they suck the water from your blood for their digestion in the intestine. Thats how the insoluble fibers mix with water and form a gelatinous slippery material like mucous and aid in defecation. If you dont drink lots of water you are definitely gonna experience constipation. According to a research article irregular intake of water and fiber can cause constipation and bloating.

One more important thing according to me healthy individuals on a balanced diet dont require any extra fibers in the form of oats and all separately. Because if you use less polished rice, pulses and whole wheat etc, you get the fibers you daily require. According to my knowledge if a normal individual cultivates the habit of eating oats daily, it would be very difficult to live without oats in future because body adapts to your diet and when you dont like oats in future and want to get rid of it you start experiencing constipation! So be careful about high fiber diets guys. Consume it only if you are at the risk of some ailments or diseases. Remember none of our ancestors ate oats and all but still lived healthy n long life.
